Sidekick Tips and Tricks
Here are some General Tips for the Sidekicks. I added links to other spots that have the sidekick 2008 Tips and The Sidekick LX Tips and Tricks
Make Your Screen a Mirror (Turns off Screen)
menu+shift+m
Turn on Flashlight Mode (Blank White Screen)
press menu+f
Quickly Bring up the Music Player
press jump button+done button (press the bottom left and bottom right buttons)
Record a Voice Message in Email
Hit the left shoulder key while composing an email to record a voice message
Change The Cursor in the Web Browser
In the web browser, press menu+shift+E to change the cursor style. There are 3 different styles, to cycle through them just keep pressing menu+shift+E
HOW TO DO A MASTER RESET ON A SIDEKICK 3
1. Remove the battery and the SIM card from the device.
2. Flip the sidekick open; press and hold the letter 'r' on the keypad.
3. While holding the letter 'r', place the battery back in the device. DO NOT INSERT THE SIM CARD YET.
4. The sidekick will restart itself twice. Please make sure not to let the letter 'r' go until it has fully rebooted.
5. Once it has fully rebooted, remove the battery, re-insert the SIM card and battery and power up the device.
6. Once the device has fully rebooted, all prior information should be erased from the device and it should be restored back to the default factoy settings.

SIDEKICK 3 WON'T CHARGE
The Sidekick 3 has a charging issue that crops up after awhile. The unit will fail to charge at all even though you may get the charging light.
If you are under warranty, great! Send it in and get it fixed.
If not, buy an extra battery and a Sidekick 3 charging cradle . This will cost about 40 dollars but it that is a lot better than the 100+ it will cost to fix it!
When looking at a cradle, make sure it says it has a spare battery charger. Some of the Sidekick Charging cradles don't.
If you decide to go this route, make sure to power down your sidekick 3 before changing batteries. This will prevent the data from being lost. If you remove the battery while the sidekick is on, it will do a hard reset and your data will download again from server, but it will take awhile.

Want to clear out info on your Sidekick info (ie: to sell yours)?
1) Remove your sim card
2) From the jump screen: Menu -> Settings -> System Info
3) Press Menu+Shift+X Select OK to clear the flash.
4) Press Menu+Shift+R Select OK to clear the login information.
5) Perform a hard reset now. This will reboot the device.
To perform a hard reset:
SK2 - Press the power button and reset button at the same time. Unit will vibrate when reset. You can use a paper clip or similiar to hit the reset button located behind the screen.
SK3 - remove the battery while the device is on.
6) Call your carrier and ask them to detach your device IMEI from the username locked in. Once that is done, hard reset without your SIM card inserted.
You're done.
Silence your Sidekick Quickly
Does the beeping of your Sidekick keep you up at night? Sure, you could always mute it but then you might miss that important phone call. A Custom sound profile is the answer. From the Jump Screen press the Menu button, select Settings then Sound Profiles. From there, you can crank up, turn down or entirely disable different sounds. Once you have a setup you like, give it a catchy name, save the profile and switch to it whenever you need a bit of silence.
Tale a Quick Camera Shot
This is how you can grab a quick picture with your Sidekick device! Bypass the trackball! From anywhere on the jump screen, a quick press of the top-right bumper will take you to the Camera app, another press will power-up your camera, and a final press will take the picture. Click click click done!
Give Your Texting Thumbs a Break
Flipping through multiple IM conversations? A quick finger-press to the left and right shoulder buttons on your Danger-powered device will cycle your back and forth through all of them - and your thumbs never have to leave the keyboard.
Enable Auto Texting
Speed up your IM conversations, even if you are not a touch typist by enabling autotext. From the Jump Screen, press Menu, select Settings, then select AutoText. From there, set up shortcuts for all your favorite words and phrases.
How to Setup Email Accounts on Sidekicks
Set up your Sidekick to retrieve emails from any of your POP or IMAP email accounts - like Gmail or Yahoo! Mail. Press the Menu button, select Settings, Accounts and add a new account. Done! Plus, view emailed Word and PDF content directly on your Sidekick.
